Social Studies Department Research Paper Due Dates

Over the course of this semester, you will write a thesis-based research paper. This project is designed to help you discover the process of writing by analyzing and synthesizing information from primary and secondary sources.  The table below provides the due dates for each portion of the writing process of the research paper. A presentation will take place on the due date of the paper.  More information will be provided closer to the due date of the final draft.

*** PLEASE NOTE: Any plagiarized work will receive a grade of "0" for that portion of the research paper and will be referred to the Dean of Discipline.  To avoid plagiarism, review the following websites:

  2. If students are absent the day the paper is due, the student must submit at the start of the next class scheduled with the teacher.  Furthermore, students must also provide an excused absence note from the attendance office to ensure the assignment is not marked as late.
  3. Finished projects that are not turned in by the due date will be marked down 10% for each date it is late.
  4. If students work in pairs, the assignment is due NO MATTER WHAT ON THE ASSIGNED DAY AND PERIOD.  If one member of the group is absent, it is the responsibility of the remaining present group member to submit the entire research paper. If a group member is not present, it is the responsibility of both members to communicate in advance and have all work ready.

2. ALL INDIVIDUAL WORK COMPILED TOGETHER AND SUBMITTED TOGETHER WITH THE COVER PAGE AND WORKS CITED PAGE.

3. WORKS CITED PAGE AT THE END- THIS SHOULD BE DIVIDED BY STUDENT (LIST THE NAME OF ONE STUDENT AND BENEATH THAT ALL OF HIS/HER SOURCES, THEN THE NEXT STUDENT AND HIS/HER SOURCES, AND SO ON). EACH STUDENT MUST HAVE AT LEAST TWO SOURCES. MLA CITATION GUIDE: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/05/

2. YOU MUST PROVIDE THE CITATIONS OF YOUR SOURCE FOR THE GROUP WORKS CITED PAGE.  EACH STUDENT MUST HAVE AT LEAST TWO SOURCES.

3. ALL WORK IS IN YOUR OWN WORDS!  DO NOT PLAGIARIZE!  http://www.plagiarism.org/  http://library.uoregon.edu/guides/plagiarism/students/index.html.  Both websites discuss plagiarism as well as the video below.
